The Russian Defense Ministry has announced its plans to finalize the creation of the national segment of the international nuclear test monitoring system by the end of this year. This initiative serves as a testament to Russia’s commitment to preventing the proliferation of nuclear weapons. In Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, the coordination committee of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) convened to visit the recently constructed seismic station MCM “Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk,” marking the completion of the 32nd and final object in the Russian monitoring system. Addressing criticism over Russia’s withdrawal from CTBT ratification, Russian Ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, emphasized Russia’s support for the establishment of a global regime for nuclear weapons control. In a separate development, North Korea recently conducted military exercises simulating nuclear strikes against South Korea.
