Mysterious Disappearance on Yoga Retreat Raises Questions as Key Witness Remains Silent

The family of Nancy Ng, a California woman who went missing on a yoga retreat in Guatemala, is left bewildered as the only witness to the tragedy refuses to cooperate with authorities. Nancy, 29, drowned on a kayaking excursion in Lake Atitlán, according to local prosecutors. However, her family is skeptical and her body has not been recovered. The witness, Christina Blazek, a lawyer for the San Bernadino County Public Defender’s Office, has chosen not to speak to the family or assist in the investigation, leaving Nancy’s loved ones desperate for answers.

Nicky Ng, Nancy’s sister, expressed her confusion and frustration, stating, “I can’t understand why she wouldn’t just want to bring my family some comfort and some closure. If she was the last person to see Nancy alive, and it was an accident, why not just tell us that and help us? It just seems very strange to me.”

In an effort to find Nancy, the family hired a search and rescue team led by Chris Sharpe. However, the lack of cooperation from Blazek has hindered their efforts. The family released a press release naming Blazek as the witness, prompting her lawyer, G. Christopher Gardner, to speak to the media. Gardner claimed that Blazek had fully cooperated with investigators and blamed the family for spreading misinformation.

According to Gardner, Blazek tried to save Nancy when she noticed her struggling in the water. However, Nancy disappeared, and Blazek was unable to locate her in the pitch-black water. She eventually returned to shore to seek help. Gardner’s account, released this week, provided valuable information for the search team, allowing them to focus their efforts on the deepest part of the lake.

The Ng family remains baffled by Blazek’s delayed response and her decision to communicate through an attorney. They are concerned about the limited time they have to find Nancy if she is indeed in the water. The circumstances surrounding Nancy’s disappearance raise many questions for the family, including whether she struggled or screamed before vanishing.

As the search continues and the mystery deepens, Nancy’s family is desperately seeking closure and answers. The case highlights the importance of cooperation in investigations and the need for comprehensive safety measures during retreats and excursions.
