Arrest Made in Case of Missing 4-Year-Old Girl as Body Believed to be Found

Kentucky police have made an arrest in the case of a missing 4-year-old girl after discovering what they believe to be her body. The girl, Chloe Darnell, was last seen in September, but her disappearance was not reported until recently. Brittany Slaughter, the girl’s cousin and custodian, and her boyfriend Adam Hayes have been arrested and are facing charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence.

The condition of Darnell’s body has not been revealed, but it has been sent for an autopsy and positive identification. The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department initially treated both Slaughter and Darnell as missing persons. However, the investigation took a turn when a 2009 red Mitsubishi Lancer, believed to be driven by Slaughter, was discovered. Slaughter was found unharmed, and she was subsequently arrested. Hayes, who was already in custody, faces additional charges.

The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department is awaiting official identification and autopsy results to confirm that the body found is indeed Chloe Darnell’s. Meanwhile, Slaughter and Hayes are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday. The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.

This case highlights the tragic disappearance of a young child and the subsequent arrest of her cousin and boyfriend. The details surrounding the case are still emerging, and authorities are working to uncover the full truth. As the community awaits further updates, the focus remains on seeking justice for Chloe Darnell and bringing closure to her family and loved ones.
