Violent Attacks in Jerusalem and Escalation of Conflict in the Middle East

Three armed individuals attacked a checkpoint in a tunnel south of Jerusalem, according to a report by Ynet News.

The attackers were neutralized, but four people were injured, one of whom is in critical condition.

Prior to this incident, a man with a knife attacked police officers in Jerusalem.

The situation in the Middle East has escalated following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7th, when Hamas announced the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.

Israel’s retaliatory operation, named “Iron Swords,” aims to repel attacks, free over 200 hostages, including foreigners, and destroy Hamas. To achieve these goals, Israel has been conducting massive rocket strikes on the Gaza Strip since the first day of the operation. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the Strip. Humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza have only resumed through the Rafah border crossing after October 20th, but the volume of aid is deemed insufficient.

On October 27th, Israel announced the “expansion” of its ground operation in Gaza. The exact start of this operation is unknown, but hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had already evacuated their homes and sought shelter in the enclaves and the south prior to its commencement. As of November 5th, clashes are still ongoing in the center of Gaza, with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) having surrounded the city and cut off its supply routes.

Earlier, Russians who had left the Gaza Strip shared their experiences of living in a conflict zone.
