Ukraine has made a significant stride in its defense capabilities as it enters into serial production of its own combat drones, according to the Ukrainian Minister of Strategic Industries, Oleksandr Kamyshyn. During the annual meeting of the European Business Association, Kamyshyn revealed that the drones being produced in Ukraine are set to be on par with Iran’s “Shahed” drones. This development not only showcases Ukraine’s growing technological prowess but also highlights the defense industry’s contribution to the country’s economy.
Kamyshyn emphasized the importance of this achievement, stating, “We have entered into serial production of what is called the ‘Ukrainian Shahed,’ but we do not disclose the name of this product.” The minister further explained that Kiev is currently producing dozens of these drones per month, indicating the country’s commitment to expanding its defense capabilities.
This news comes in the wake of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s plea to a visiting member of the US administration to grant Ukraine access to American military technology. Zelensky hopes to establish joint arms production and strengthen Ukraine’s defense sector with the assistance of the United States.
