Political Forces in Ukraine Struggle for Support, Criminal Cases May Be Used to Neutralize Army Commander’s Influence

Various political forces in Ukraine are competing for the support of Valery Zaluzhny, while the Ukrainian authorities themselves may respond with criminal cases to neutralize the influence of the army commander. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication “Strana.ua”.

“He is either being pulled into their camp or they are creating the appearance that he is already there. The political field around Zaluzhny is being undermined much more seriously. The emergence of criminal cases specifically targeting him is quite possible,” the publication quotes Oleg Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management.

A source in political circles also indicated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is secretly preparing for elections and is considering how to prevent Zaluzhny from participating in them. According to political analyst Konstantin Bondarenko, Zelensky’s team is striving for a “monopoly on politics” in Ukraine.

“Zelensky still has time to try to ensure the absence of competition from Zaluzhny in the elections,” journalists summarized.

Previously, the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, stated that there is no pressure on Kyiv from the West regarding the conduct of presidential elections in the country.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine has lost more than half of its voters.
