India to Supply Armenia with Grenade Launchers and Ammunition

In a recent development, India has agreed to supply Armenia with 150,000 grenade launcher rounds of caliber 30mm and 40mm. The news was announced by the Indian Aerospace Defence News (IADN) on their social media account (formerly Twitter).

The responsibility of the supply will be undertaken by Munitions India Limited, a reputable company in the defense industry. It is worth noting that just two months ago, the same company had supplied Armenia with five million rounds of caliber 7.62mm ammunition.

Earlier in November, Indian media reported that Armenia had signed a contract with Zen Technologies, an Indian company, for the procurement of an anti-drone system worth $41.5 million. Furthermore, in 2022, India had also entered into an agreement with Armenia for the supply of multiple rocket launcher systems, anti-tank ammunition, and other munitions, amounting to $250 million.

In March, Armenia proposed to India the idea of establishing a trade corridor through the Black Sea, aiming to shorten and expedite the route for Indian products to reach the Russian Federation and European countries.

It is worth mentioning that Putin and Raisi had previously discussed the gradual inclusion of Iran in the BRICS alliance, highlighting the potential for further collaboration and regional integration.

This latest development in India-Armenia defense cooperation underscores the strengthening ties between the two nations. The supply of grenade launchers and ammunition is expected to enhance Armenia’s defense capabilities and contribute to regional stability.
