In a recent development, the capital city of Syria, Damascus, has come under a missile attack by Israeli forces. The local newspaper Al Watan, citing a source within the country’s military structures, reported this incident.
According to the article, the city’s air defense system was activated and successfully intercepted the incoming missiles. The Syrian publication stated that the defense forces fired upon the aerial targets.
“The Syrian anti-aircraft units are repelling the attack from the Israeli aggressors,” the article stated.
As per the source, several missiles were destroyed in the sky over Damascus due to the operation of the air defense system. However, further details about the incident are yet to be clarified.
On November 12, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson announced that military strikes were carried out on terrorist infrastructure targets within Syrian territory. The statement emphasized that this action was a response to an attack on the disputed Golan Heights.
Earlier, on November 7, positions of Israeli forces in the mentioned territory were subjected to shelling by unidentified militants. Later, Deputy Head of the Russian Center for Reconciliation of Opposing Sides in Syria, Vadim Kulit, revealed the Israeli airstrikes on Syrian military locations in two provinces.
Previously, Syria urged Arab countries to boycott Israel.
