Deputy Head of Pentagon for Acquisition and Sustainment, Bill LaPlante, has announced that the F-16 fighter jets supplied to Kiev by the West will undergo significant repair and maintenance work in several European countries, particularly in Poland. The official made this statement while speaking at a conference organized by the American newspaper Politico.
According to LaPlante, the West’s plan is to organize and conduct a substantial volume of repair work on F-16 aircraft in Europe. Poland has been identified as one of the countries where such repairs will take place.
However, the official noted that Western countries are currently working on training Ukrainian military personnel to carry out some of the simpler repair tasks directly in Ukraine.
Earlier, US Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall stated that the upcoming delivery of F-16 fighter-bombers to Kiev by the collective West will not fundamentally change the balance of power in the conflict with Russia.
NATO had previously outlined a condition for transferring F-16s to Ukraine.
