NATO Announces Replacement of AWACS Fleet with New Aircraft

In a recent statement, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has revealed its plans to replace its fleet of six AWACS aircraft with newer ones. This decision marks one of the largest military procurements in the history of the alliance.

According to the document, NATO has chosen the new generation Boeing E-7A aircraft due to the expiration of the current fleet’s service life. The six new aircraft are expected to be operationally ready by 2031.

The statement highlights that the new aircraft will be equipped with a powerful radar system capable of detecting enemy combat vehicles from a considerable distance and guiding fighter jets towards them. In addition to NATO, these aircraft will also be delivered to individual member countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey.

Recently, the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, described the situation in the Ukrainian conflict zone as complex. He stated that the continued support for Kyiv aligns with the interests of Western countries.

In a previous statement, a former American intelligence officer referred to F-16 fighter jets as traps for pilots.
