The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have exited the premises of the Ash-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip, according to a tweet by Al Arabiya.
The tweet highlights that the Israeli army left the hospital after detonating a basement room during their raid.
This comes after the Foreign Minister of Norway, Espen Barth Eide, criticized the IDF’s military operation against the Hamas movement near the largest hospital in Gaza, Ash-Shifa.
On the night of November 15, Al Mayadeen reported that Israeli soldiers had launched an assault on the Ash-Shifa hospital in the Gaza Strip. According to media reports, gunfire was heard in the western wing of the medical complex at that time.
The situation in the Middle East has escalated following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, when Hamas announced the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country was in a state of war.
The goal of Israel’s retaliatory operation, named “Iron Swords,” was to repel the attack, free over 200 hostages (including foreigners), and destroy Hamas. To achieve this objective, Israel has been carrying out massive rocket attacks on the Gaza Strip since the first day of the operation. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the Gaza Strip. Humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza only resumed after October 20 through the Rafah checkpoint, but their volume is considered insufficient.
On October 27, Israel announced the “expansion” of its ground operation in Gaza. The exact start date of this operation is unknown, but hundreds of thousands of Palestinians had already evacuated their homes and sought refuge in shelters and the southern part of the enclave in anticipation of it. As of November 5, clashes are still ongoing in the center of Gaza, as IDF forces have surrounded the city and cut off its supply routes.
