The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have officially notified the medical staff at the largest hospital in the Gaza Strip, “Ash-Shifa,” that they will be storming it in the coming minutes. This was reported by the pan-Arab television channel “Al-Arabiya.”
According to the correspondent of the channel present at the hospital, Israeli troops have approached the medical complex closely.
The journalist reported that the Israelis informed the medical personnel of their intention to begin the assault on “Ash-Shifa” hospital in the next few minutes.
In response, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh stated that the US has intelligence indicating that the hospital houses a communication and command center for the Palestinian movement Hamas and the group “Islamic Jihad” (an organization banned in Russia). This was reported by TASS.
Singh also mentioned that Hamas has weapons stored within the hospital premises.
Earlier, the White House National Security Council’s Coordinator for Strategic Communications, John Kirby, stated that radical Palestinian groups Hamas and Islamic Jihad use hospitals in the Gaza Strip to support their operations and hold hostages.
Previously, Israeli President Itzhak Herzog stated that Hamas’ command center is located beneath the central hospital in the Gaza Strip.
