Behind closed doors, the United States is reportedly discussing with Israel the possibility of accelerating the ongoing military operation in the Gaza Strip. This information was reported by RIA Novosti, citing the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR).
According to the SVR, prolonging the military actions in Gaza could have a negative impact on the pre-election positions of US President Joe Biden.
“Behind closed doors, Americans are having a completely different conversation with Israeli leaders. They are urging Israelis to expedite the operation to prevent any delays, as it would have a detrimental effect on Joe Biden’s pre-election positions,” the press bureau statement said.
It is noted that publicly, Washington is calling for humanitarian pauses and the limitation of artillery shelling zones.
Earlier, the spokesperson for the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Avihai Edri, announced that Israel had suspended its military actions in the city of Rafah in the southern part of the Gaza Strip for four hours and a humanitarian corridor would be opened.
Previously, a political analyst had identified one of the reasons for the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
