Russian Citizens Evacuated from Gaza Sent to Cairo for Assistance

Moscow, November 14 – The second group of Russians evacuated from the Gaza Strip have been sent to Cairo by buses, according to a statement from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) on their Telegram channel. “Ninety-nine citizens, including 43 children, have been sent from the Rafah crossing point to Cairo by buses. The operational headquarters is prepared to receive them and provide all necessary assistance. The citizens will be accompanied by medical personnel and psychologists from the MES throughout the entire journey,” the statement said. The first group of Russian citizens, consisting of 70 individuals, who were evacuated from the Palestinian enclave, arrived in the Egyptian capital on Monday night. On the same day, they flew to Moscow on an Il-76 aircraft, which landed at Domodedovo Airport in the evening. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict is rooted in territorial interests and has been a source of tension and conflict in the region for decades. The United Nations, with active participation from the Soviet Union in 1947, decided to create two states – Israel and Palestine – but only Israel came into existence. A new phase of confrontation began after Hamas forces from the Gaza Strip fired at the Jewish state and infiltrated the border areas in the south of the country on the morning of October 7, opening fire on both military and civilian targets and taking hostages. In response, the Israel Defense Forces launched Operation “Iron Swords” in the Gaza Strip. Within a few days of the attack, the IDF took control of all settlements along the border and began conducting airstrikes on various targets, including civilian ones, within the enclave. In addition, Tel Aviv declared a full blockade of Gaza, suspending the supply of water, food, electricity, medicine, and fuel. The number of casualties in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 11,000, with over 4,000 of them being children. More than 29,000 have been injured. Over 1,400 people have been killed in Israel, including 20 Russians. Approximately 200-250 people may be held captive by Hamas.
