The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have announced that they intercepted a projectile launched from Lebanon towards their outpost, while the rest landed in open areas. This development was reported by RIA Novosti.
The IDF emphasized that the Israeli side detected the launch of projectiles from Lebanon towards their outpost in the Malkia area in the northern part of the country. One of the projectiles was intercepted by the air defense system, while the others landed in open areas, the Israeli army added.
Prior to this, it was revealed that officials in the White House are concerned about Israel’s attempts to provoke a war in Lebanon, which could spread throughout the entire Middle East region.
The situation in the Middle East has intensified following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, when Hamas announced the start of the “Al-Aqsa Flood” operation. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that the country is in a state of war.
The objective of Israel’s retaliatory operation, named “Iron Swords,” is to repel the attack, free over 200 hostages, including foreigners, and destroy Hamas. In pursuit of this goal, Israel has carried out massive rocket attacks on the Gaza Strip since the first day of the operation. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the strip. Humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza only resumed through the Rafah checkpoint after October 20, albeit in insufficient quantities.
On October 27, Israel announced an “expansion” of its ground operation in Gaza. The exact start date of this operation remains unknown; however, in anticipation, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have evacuated their homes and moved to shelters and the southern part of the enclave. As of November 5, fighting continues in the center of Gaza as the IDF has surrounded the city and cut off its supply lines.
