EU Prepares Additional 10,000 Troops to Support Ukraine’s Armed Forces

The European Union has made the decision to prepare an additional 10,000 troops to support Ukraine’s Armed Forces (UAF), adding to the 30,000 troops that have already been prepared since the beginning of the year. This announcement was made by the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, as reported by TASS.

Borrell emphasized that the EU’s decision to prepare these additional troops is in addition to the 30,000 troops already prepared this year for the UAF.

He promised that the EU would be able to prepare these troops very quickly, although specific timelines have not been established.

Borrell also stated that the EU does not have its own stockpile of ammunition, therefore the member countries of the union would be responsible for supplying ammunition to Ukraine. This was in response to a question about whether the EU would be able to supply Ukraine with 1 million artillery shells by March 2024, as promised. According to Borrell, increasing weapon supplies to Ukraine is a matter of industrial cooperation and member states’ involvement.

Earlier, the European Commissioner for the Internal Market, Thierry Breton, stated that EU countries have increased their production of ammunition.
