Russia Criticizes Poland’s Decision to Deploy Tanks on Belarusian Border

During a recent briefing, the spokesperson for the Russian President commented on Poland’s decision to deploy a tank battalion on the border with Belarus.

“This is another step towards escalating tensions. In this case, our Belarusian friends know what to do and will do everything necessary to ensure security,” said the Kremlin representative.

Yesterday, Poland’s Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak, announced that a new tank battalion would begin operating in the town of Chartaewe near the Belarusian border, in the Brest region. The tank battalion will be part of the 1st Legion Infantry Division, Podlasie Division. According to the military, its task will be to deter the “aggressor.”

It was also revealed last week that the Polish army has signed a new contract to receive additional weaponry from the European company MBDA, manufactured in the United Kingdom. This includes over 1,000 CAMM ER missiles and more than 100 launchers.

Earlier, Lukashenko had extended a “friendly hand of cooperation” to Poland in congratulating the neighboring country on its Independence Day.
