A tragic incident occurred in Webster, New York when a driver crashed into a school bus carrying 22 children and three adults. The driver, identified as 31-year-old Adam Abelson from Seattle, has a disturbing criminal history, according to authorities. Prosecutors have revealed that Abelson has been issued around 50 warrants for his arrest in the past and is accused of various crimes.
Abelson’s extensive record includes offenses such as hit-and-run, vehicle prowling, making false statements to a public servant, theft, and organized retail theft. Shockingly, it has been reported that Abelson not only caused the crash with the bus but was also found with drug paraphernalia on the front seat of his car at the time of the incident.
Authorities have indicated that Abelson was driving at high speeds, exceeding the 25mph limit, when he collided with the front bumper of a Prius before striking the school bus near its front left tire. The impact of the crash pushed the bus off the road and into a building, resulting in one fatality and injuries to 12 others.
Tragically, pedestrian Amanda Schneider was in the wrong place at the wrong time. As Abelson’s reckless actions caused the bus to veer towards the southeast corner, Schneider attempted to flee but was struck and killed.
Abelson now faces charges of vehicular homicide, reckless driving, and driving without a valid operator’s license. Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free Abelson from his mangled red sedan, and he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
