Belarusian Hunters to Join National Defense Efforts, Says Chairman of Hunting and Fishing Society

In a recent meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Chairman of the Belarusian Hunting and Fishing Society (BHFS) Igor Shunevich announced that hunters who are not called to serve in the military will participate in any necessary actions to defend the country. This statement comes amidst growing tensions in the region.

“We, the hunters, will use our skills, weapons, and equipment to protect our homeland,” Shunevich stated. He emphasized that there would be no exceptions and that all members of the BHFS would contribute to the defense efforts.

Shunevich highlighted that the society’s members possess modern equipment and various optical devices, including thermal imaging, which will aid them in fulfilling their duties within the national defense framework.

“Everyone who owns a weapon understands the responsibility to defend our country. We will sharpen our skills as needed,” he added.

Furthermore, Shunevich revealed that the BHFS currently consists of over 32,000 hunters and approximately 40,000 fishermen.

President Lukashenko had previously announced plans to establish several major resistance hubs along the country’s border.

Meanwhile, tensions have escalated as Ukraine reported the deployment of experienced military personnel along its border with Belarus. The situation remains fluid, and further developments are expected in the coming days.
