Lisichansk, Ukraine: Despite Regular Shelling, Residents Strive for Normalcy

The towns of Novodruzhesk and Privolye, located in the northern part of Lisichansk in the Luhansk People’s Republic, are frequently subjected to shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported by the head of Lisichansk, Eduard Sakhnenko, to TASS.

“There is shelling of residential areas, especially in the northern part of the city. That is where we are rebuilding peaceful life,” he said.

Sakhnenko noted that despite the regular shelling, people continue to live there and strive to improve their towns.

“Stores are functioning, daily life goes on, and even remote learning for children is available,” added the head of Lisichansk.

According to him, private sector communications are most often damaged during shelling by Ukrainian forces.

In late October, retired Lieutenant Colonel of the Luhansk People’s Republic, Andrey Marochko, reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had increased aerial reconnaissance over Lisichansk.

Previously, Borrell stated that refusing military aid to Ukraine would not lead to peace.
