Hamas Suspends Prisoner Exchange Talks with Israel Due to Attacks on Ash-Shifa Hospital

Moscow, November 12 – Hamas has halted negotiations with Israel regarding a prisoner exchange due to attacks on Ash-Shifa hospital, according to a Palestinian official cited by Reuters. The statement mentioned that “Hamas has suspended talks on hostages due to the actions of Israeli forces against Ash-Shifa hospital.” Earlier today, the Iranian state agency Tasnim reported, citing local sources, that the electricity supply to the hospital in the Gaza Strip had been completely cut off. Meanwhile, the Israeli army continues to heavily shell its surroundings. Yesterday, the organization Doctors Without Borders (MSF) reported that the IDF had struck the maternity ward of the hospital, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. On Friday, the World Health Organization (WHO) stated that since October 7, there have been at least 245 attacks on healthcare facilities in Palestinian territories, including 118 in Gaza. On the same day, al Arabiya TV channel reported, citing sources, that Israel and Hamas had agreed on a prisoner exchange. It was specified that Tel Aviv was supposed to release Palestinian women and children, and in return, Hamas would release one hundred Israeli women. During the hostilities in southern Israel, the Palestinian movement took around 250 people hostage, including both military personnel and civilians, including citizens of third countries. According to the military wing of Hamas, Al-Qassam Brigades, more than 60 prisoners were killed in Israeli army attacks on the Gaza Strip. The bodies of many victims are still buried under the rubble.
