Japanese Prime Minister Discusses Strengthening Russia-China Relations with US Military Chief

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida recently held discussions with the US military chief, Charles Brown, regarding the enhancement of ties between Russia and China. This development, reported by RIA Novosti, highlights the growing tensions in the Asia-Pacific region. Chief among these concerns is the increased activity of North Korea in relation to nuclear weapons and missile technologies, as well as China’s attempts to unilaterally alter the status quo through the use of force. Additionally, the parties discussed the bolstering of military cooperation between Russia and China, particularly in terms of armed forces and naval capabilities.

The mention of the status quo refers to the situation surrounding Taiwan. During the conversation, Kishida also expressed Japan’s commitment to working alongside the United States in ensuring peace and stability in the region.

It is worth noting that Japan had previously expressed regret over Russia’s withdrawal from the treaty on the elimination of intermediate-range nuclear forces.

Earlier, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had criticized the joint military exercises conducted by the United States, Japan, and Korea.
