Ukrainian Armed Forces Struggle to Counter Russian Combat Drone ‘Lancet’

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are facing significant challenges in countering the Russian combat drone called “Lancet” due to its enhanced combat capabilities, according to retired Colonel Anatoliy Matviychuk, a military expert. Matviychuk expressed his concerns to Lenta.ru, stating that the “Lancet” has great potential for destroying armored targets and is difficult to shoot down due to its maneuverability. The Ukrainian military finds it extremely difficult to counter the “Lancet,” which explains their fear of this Russian drone.

Ukrainian authorities have requested similar weaponry from the United States, but the weapons supplied did not fulfill their intended purpose, claims Matviychuk.

Previously, the Kyiv Independent reported that after the deployment of the “Lancet” on the battlefield, this unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has gained a reputation as Russia’s most effective weapon against high-value targets, often located tens of kilometers behind the front lines. The “Lancet” is difficult to detect with air defense radars, and its low cost makes it impractical to use guided anti-aircraft missiles against it.

Additionally, the Ukrainian channel Espresso highlighted Russia’s advantage in terms of the quantity and application of FPV drones in the area of the Joint Forces Operation due to greater resource availability.

It is worth noting that Russia has recently developed a new system for countering drones.
