In a ceremony held in Syria, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Yunus-Bek Yevkurov presented the Order of Suvorov to the Russian military group stationed in the country. This announcement was made through the ministry’s Telegram channel.
“I am proud to attach the Order of Suvorov to the battle flag of the Russian Armed Forces’ military group in the Syrian Arab Republic,” Yevkurov declared.
According to the deputy minister, this award is a high recognition by the state for the work of the command, soldiers, and civilian personnel. He also described the group’s accomplishments in Syria as exemplary service to the homeland.
Additionally, the Ministry of Defense presented an icon of the “Spas Nerukotvorny” to Archpriest Igor Lyubchenko, who is involved in working with religious servicemen in Syria.
The Order of Suvorov was bestowed upon the Russian military group in Syria by the decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, in recognition of their contributions to ensuring Russia’s security, as well as their selflessness and courage.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense awarded the titles of Hero of Russia to three individuals who destroyed 32 tanks in a special operation zone.
Earlier, 44 officers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Armed Forces were granted the rank of general.
