The city of Los Angeles has agreed to pay $8 million to Ruben Martinez Jr., a man who spent 12 years in prison for a series of armed robberies he did not commit, his lawyers announced. Martinez’s criminal case was thrown out in 2019 after investigators tracked down alibi witnesses who confirmed that he was at work during the time the crimes were committed between 2005 and 2007.
