Israeli Defense Forces Prepared to Defend Border with Lebanon, Former Defense Minister Says

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are ready to fight on both sides of the border with Lebanon if necessary, according to former Israeli Defense Minister and member of the country’s caretaker government, Benny Gantz, as reported by RIA Novosti.

“We are prepared to defend our northern border on both sides if needed,” he noted.

Gantz assured that Israel will not allow the Lebanese Shia group Hezbollah to threaten the Jewish state, neither now nor in the future. He also warned of the consequences for the group if its members make a “mistake.”

“We will ensure that the residents of the north return home and feel safe,” summarized the former Israeli Defense Minister.

Shortly before this, the spokesperson for the IDF, Brigadier General Daniel Hageri, stated that the Hamas movement has lost control in the northern sector of the Gaza Strip.

Earlier, Hezbollah struck two Israeli infantry units.
