Explosions were heard in the Kursk region and the railway district, which are attributed to ongoing military exercises, according to Roman Starovoit, the governor of the Kursk region. In his Telegram channel, Starovoit explained that the sounds were coming from the shooting range where training exercises were taking place. He emphasized that the situation in the region is calm and urged local residents to remain calm as well.
Prior to this, Starovoit had stated that Ukrainian drones had started dropping cluster munitions on Russian territories. These same munitions were previously used by a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle to attack an oil refinery in the city of Sudzha in the Kursk region. It is reported that three cluster munitions were dropped on the facility, with no casualties reported.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Armed Forces had targeted three districts in the Kursk region with shelling.
