Teenage Suspect Surrenders in Fatal Seattle Bus Shooting

A 17-year-old boy wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of a passenger on a Seattle bus last month has turned himself in, according to police. Miguel Rivera Dominguez, from the south suburb of Burien, has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm. Prosecutors have described the shooting as “the senseless execution of a total stranger.” Rivera Dominguez surrendered to the King County Sheriff’s Office without incident on Monday morning. It is unclear at this time whether he has legal representation. Despite his age, he is being charged as an adult.

The incident occurred when Rivera Dominguez, without warning, shot Marcel Da’jon Wagner, a 21-year-old who appeared to be sleeping on the bus. A witness who was present at the time reported the sudden and unprovoked attack. Charging documents reveal that Rivera Dominguez had pulled the cord to request a stop before carrying out the shooting. The motive behind the crime remains unknown, as Rivera Dominguez and his friend, who was with him on the bus, claimed they did not know the victim.

Following the incident, King County Metro, the agency responsible for public transportation in the area, has increased security measures on the H Line, which serves the route between downtown Seattle and Burien. This tragic incident highlights the need for improved safety measures on public transportation systems.

The suspect’s surrender brings some closure to the community and the victim’s family, who have been left devastated by this random act of violence. The local authorities are now working to gather more evidence and understand the motive behind the shooting. As the case progresses, it is expected that more information will be revealed.
