Russian President’s Spokesperson Urges Humanitarian Pause in Israeli-Palestinian Conflict

During a recent press briefing, Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the President of Russia, addressed the ongoing escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and expressed concerns about the situation. Peskov emphasized the importance of ensuring humanitarian pauses and allowing Russian citizens to safely leave the Gaza Strip. He described the current state as tense and a humanitarian catastrophe.

Exactly one month ago, on October 7th, Hamas forces launched thousands of rockets into Israeli territory, marking the beginning of their operation named “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” Thousands of militants infiltrated Israeli territory, capturing dozens of military vehicles and over a hundred hostages. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu declared a state of war.

The Israeli Defense Forces launched a counter-operation called “Iron Swords” with the goal of destroying Hamas. The Israeli Air Force conducted strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli National Security Council decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the Gaza Strip. On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians must be evacuated to the southern part of Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a ground operation.

Earlier, the situation with Hamas was compared to Nelson Mandela’s story in Malaysia.
