Intensified Shelling in Donetsk and Gorlovka Raises Concerns of Escalation in Ukraine Conflict

In the early hours of Tuesday, Ukrainian forces launched a series of shelling attacks on Donetsk and Gorlovka, with a total of 13 projectiles fired. The Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), through their representation in the Joint Center for Control and Coordination of ceasefire-related issues (JCCC), reported these incidents.

According to the DPR’s statement on their Telegram channel, the shelling occurred at 00:35 and targeted the town of Dzerzhinsk, releasing two 152mm caliber projectiles towards Gorlovka in the Nikitovsky district.

The statement further highlighted the successful defense by the “Southern” group of forces deployed on the Donetsk front, who, with the support of aviation and artillery, repelled two enemy attacks.

Additionally, the report from the agency stated that during the same period, Russian Armed Forces inflicted damage on Ukrainian military personnel and equipment. The strikes targeted the positions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the areas of Andreyevka, Kurdyumovka, and Klescheevka within the territory of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).

Furthermore, Donetsk was subjected to shelling from 00:20 to 2:00, with a total of 11 projectiles of 155mm caliber fired at the city.

On November 6, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, reported that Ukrainian Armed Forces had fired 16 projectiles into the region within 24 hours.

Prior to this incident, it was reported that the Donetsk People’s Republic had been shelled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces 39 times in a single day.

Over the past day, the Russian Armed Forces successfully repelled two Ukrainian military attacks on the Donetsk front.
