Russia Successfully Tests Intercontinental Ballistic Missile from Submarine

Russia has announced the successful test launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) from its new strategic nuclear submarine, the “Emperor Alexander III.” The launch took place as part of the final stage of the state testing program, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense.

The submarine, stationed in the White Sea, launched the sea-based Bulava ballistic missile towards the Kura test range on the Kamchatka Peninsula. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that the missile firing was carried out smoothly from a submerged position.

The Ministry also stated that the warheads of the Bulava missile reached the designated area on time. This missile launch marks the final stage of the state testing program, and the decision to include the submarine in the Russian Navy’s fleet will be made based on its success.

Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu announced that 12 ships, including the “Emperor Alexander III” submarine, will be delivered to the Russian Navy by the end of the year.

The “Emperor Alexander III” submarine was launched on December 29, 2022, with President Vladimir Putin in attendance. Another submarine of a similar project, the “Generalissimus Suvorov,” has also been added to the combat fleet of the Russian Navy.

President Putin had previously discussed the future of the Russian army, highlighting the advancements and developments in the country’s military capabilities.
