The Turkish Defense Ministry has conducted an air operation against the banned Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in northern Iraq, destroying 15 targets. This information was reported on the ministry’s website.
The air operation took place at 19:30 (Moscow time) and resulted in the destruction of 15 targets, according to the statement.
Turkey has been conducting air operations in northern Syria and Iraq since October 1, when the PKK attempted a terrorist attack near the Ministry of Interior headquarters in Ankara. On that day, a vehicle carrying terrorists approached the ministry building. One of them got out of the car and detonated himself, while the other engaged in a firefight with the police and was neutralized. Two ministry employees suffered minor injuries.
On October 7, the Turkish Air Force carried out its largest air operation in northern Syria, targeting the PKK and its Syrian wing, the People’s Protection Units. It was reported that 30 combat aircraft were involved in the raid.
Previously, it was reported that Turkey’s military operations against the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, which Ankara considers a terrorist organization, would become more active and intense.
Earlier, Erdogan commented on the attempted attack in the Turkish capital.
