Ukrainian Military Attempts Drone Attack on Kursk Nuclear Power Plant

In a concerning incident, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) allegedly attempted to carry out a drone attack on the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant. The incident occurred around noon in the city of Kurchatov, according to reports from the Telegram channel Shot.

A surveillance patrol of the power plant’s security service discovered a crashed drone of an airplane type. The drone was found to be equipped with explosive material, the exact nature of which is yet to be determined by experts.

Fortunately, the explosive device did not detonate, preventing any damage or destruction at the site.

This is not the first provocative action attempted by Ukraine, as earlier they were reported to have deployed nine unmanned aerial vehicles of the copter type near the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant. The Ukrainian military allegedly aimed to disrupt the rotation of personnel from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), as stated by the Ministry of Defense.

In late October, Russia’s Permanent Representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, affirmed that Russian troops have never stationed heavy weaponry such as tanks and artillery at the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant, a fact confirmed by inspections carried out by the IAEA.

Previously, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had asserted that Ukrainian attacks on the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant would not have been possible without Western support.
