Turkish Bayraktar TB3 Strike Drone Successfully Completes Second Test Flight

In a significant development, Turkey has successfully conducted the second round of tests for its strike drone, Bayraktar TB3. The unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) flew for a duration of four hours, according to reports from Anadolu.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Turkish technology company Baykar, Selcuk Bayraktar, explained that the UAV is capable of taking off and landing on ships with short runways. This technology is intended for deployment on the Turkish Navy’s flagship, the Anadolu, which is a universal aircraft carrier.

The Bayraktar TB3 has a takeoff weight of nearly 1.5 tons and a payload capacity of approximately 500 kg. With a wingspan of 14 meters and a length of 8.35 meters, the drone can fly a distance of 1.8 thousand km and remain airborne for up to 24 hours.

The long-range capabilities of this drone make it suitable for both reconnaissance and strike missions. It can be remotely operated over large distances, enhancing its operational effectiveness.

The first test flight of the Bayraktar TB3 took place successfully a week ago. It was initially unveiled at the TEKNOFEST aerospace show in Istanbul in April 2023.

Meanwhile, in Russia, researchers have developed a drone aimed at temporarily expanding wireless network coverage.
