The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) have carried out a strike against an armed group in Lebanon attempting to launch rockets into Israeli territory, according to a statement from the IDF press office.
The group of suspected terrorists had made an attempt to fire rockets towards the area of Livne in northern Israel. In response, the IDF conducted a retaliatory attack.
“The IDF soldiers struck the group, confirming a successful hit. Additionally, Israeli soldiers targeted two anti-tank rocket launchers in Lebanon,” the press office statement said.
The military agency also revealed that militants had fired anti-tank rockets in the area of Manara in northern Israel. The press office has not provided any information on casualties.
Prior to this incident, the IDF lost Lieutenant Colonel Salman Habaki during the fighting in the Gaza sector. He is the highest-ranking military officer that Israel has lost since the beginning of the conflict in the region. The army has reported a total of 18 military personnel casualties since October 7.
Earlier, the IDF had announced the continuation of its offensive in the Gaza sector.
