Branches of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” fund have recently initiated a process to support fighters of private military companies (PMCs) in obtaining combat veteran certificates. This development was confirmed by the fund’s press service to TASS news agency.
The fund’s branches are now actively accepting and compiling the necessary documents, which will then be sent to the specialized commission of the Ministry of Defense. In addition, the fund’s representatives will provide assistance to the applicants in the preparation of their documentation. A comprehensive protocol has been established to streamline the collaboration between the fund and the commission.
Highlighting the significance of this initiative, Sergey Vylegzhanin, Deputy Chairman of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” fund, announced that combat veteran certificates will be issued to those fighters from private military companies who have actively participated in combat operations. This recognition aims to acknowledge their contributions and sacrifices in defense of their country.
Despite recent incidents involving attacks on the fund’s employees, a representative of the “Defenders of the Fatherland” Fund expressed their commitment to supporting combat veterans. This includes providing ongoing support to Maxim Ivanov, a former fighter of the Wagner PMC, despite the challenges faced.
