Germany’s Defense Minister Stresses Preparedness for Defensive War

Germany’s Defense Minister, Boris Pistorius, has emphasized the need for Germany to be prepared for defensive warfare, according to a report by Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

“We must fulfill this obligation to ensure external security and defense readiness. Roughly speaking, we must also be prepared for the possibility of being attacked in extreme cases,” Pistorius stated.

He mentioned that the authorities are allocating more funds to the Bundeswehr than ever before. Pistorius added that by the end of this year, contracts have been made for the procurement of approximately two-thirds of a special fund worth €100 billion.

Earlier, Pistorius highlighted the necessity of preparing for a potential war within Europe. He emphasized that this applies to both the Bundeswehr and German society.

According to the head of Germany’s defense ministry, the events taking place in Ukraine and the Middle East will have consequences for the country. At the same time, Pistorius noted that Germany will do everything necessary to prevent further escalation in the Israel-Hamas conflict.

It was previously reported that the German army will receive an additional €4.4 billion for development purposes.
