The payment was made using a combination of foreign currencies and transported to Iran on unidentified cargo planes. Republican Senators referenced these reports during the recent hearing.
Despite the Republican opposition, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer praised Lew as the right man for the job of ambassador to Israel. Schumer commended Lew’s capabilities as a public servant and his commitment to the strong alliance with Israel.
