Israeli military forces are engaged in fierce battles with members of the Palestinian movement Hamas in the depths of the Gaza Strip, according to a statement released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on their Telegram channel.
The statement mentioned that the country’s military targeted a Hamas outpost in the northern Palestinian enclave, which led to intense combat clashes involving the combined forces of the IDF, led by ground troops.
“The Israel Defense Forces have destroyed dozens of bombers, anti-tank launcher squads, and anti-tank launcher posts,” clarified IDF representatives.
By the current moment, Israeli soldiers have also neutralized several Hamas observation posts and seized a large quantity of ammunition. As stated by the IDF press office, the military personnel have gained control over weapons and other cargo belonging to the Palestinian movement.
On October 31, IDF representatives announced that the country’s military aircraft had eliminated one of the Hamas leaders in the Gaza Strip. The target was the commander of the “Beit Lahia” battalion in the northern brigade of Hamas, Naseem Abu Ajin, who participated in the attack on Israeli territories on October 7.
On the same day, the IDF spokesperson reported the arrest of over 1,100 Palestinians since the start of the hostilities. According to Israeli forces, 710 of them may have ties to Hamas.
Earlier in Israel, the number of hostages held by the Palestinian movement was clarified.
