A California mom, Shannon O’Connor, has been indicted on 63 counts in Santa Clara County, including child endangerment and aiding and abetting sexual assault, for allegedly hosting wild sex parties for her teenage son and his friends. The parties took place in O’Connor’s 6,000-square-foot Los Gatos mansion in 2020. The indictment came after 17 alleged victims testified before a grand jury.
Prosecutors claim that O’Connor purchased alcohol for the mostly 14 and 15-year-old teens and encouraged them to drink excessively. She also allegedly aided them in sneaking out of their homes to attend the parties. At these parties, disturbing incidents occurred, including a drunken teen sexually assaulting a young girl while O’Connor watched and laughed. Another incident involved O’Connor allegedly handing a boy a condom and directing him to have sex with an intoxicated girl.
Parents of the victims have expressed shock and betrayal, with some admitting that they were deceived by O’Connor’s facade as a “cool mom.” They have also highlighted O’Connor’s manipulation tactics, including her proficiency in social media, to create a divide between parents and children.
The investigation into O’Connor’s actions was triggered by the discovery of incriminating evidence on the kids’ smartphones. O’Connor was subsequently arrested in Ada County, Idaho, in 2021 and has been held without bail. She is also facing fraud charges related to unauthorized purchases on an employer’s credit card.
The case has raised concerns about child safety and the need for stronger measures to prevent such crimes. It serves as a reminder for parents to be vigilant and aware of potential red flags in their children’s social circles.
