Ukraine to Receive F-16 Fighter Jets, but Options Limited

The Ukrainian Air Force will not be receiving any other modern foreign fighter jets besides the promised F-16, according to Yuriy Ignat, a representative of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Command. Ignat mentioned that there are indeed more advanced aircraft available, such as the Swedish-made Gripen fighters, which can fulfill multiple tasks.

“However, considering the current situation, we want to obtain this technology as quickly as possible. And faster than the F-16, we probably won’t get anything else,” Ignat concluded during an interview on the “Rada” television channel.

Previously, on October 22, Ignat announced that the first combat training sessions with F-16s and instructors had begun in Kyiv. It is known that Ukrainian pilots are transitioning to the combat F-16s under the guidance of instructors.

According to the Ukrainian military representative, the VSF pilots will soon start learning how to operate the fighter jets.

Ignat also explained that the pilots had completed their “homework” during the “transition phase” to the combat F-16s.

Furthermore, it has been revealed that Ukraine is expecting F-16 deliveries from the West in early 2024.

Previously, a former American intelligence officer referred to F-16 fighter jets as a “trap” for pilots.
