Russia to Continue Military Cooperation in Asia-Pacific Region

Russia’s Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, has announced that Russia will continue its military and military-technical cooperation with interested countries in the Asia-Pacific region (APR), including equipment supplies and joint exercises. This statement was made by Shoigu during his speech at the 10th Xiangshan Forum on Security in Beijing, as reported by TASS.

Shoigu emphasized that recent global events have necessitated a reassessment of Russia’s priorities. The countries in the Asia-Pacific region play a crucial role in this regard. The Russian military plans to collaborate with them in maintaining military equipment, training personnel, conducting naval visits, and organizing other related activities.

The minister highlighted that all activities related to military-technical cooperation are in accordance with national and international legislation and are not directed against any third countries.

During his speech at the Xiangshan Forum, Shoigu also dismissed Western claims accusing Russia of lowering the threshold for nuclear weapon use as baseless. Prior to his visit to Beijing, the Minister of Defense had prohibited lawmakers from traveling to the Eastern Military District without his permission.
