Russian General Appointed as Commander of Troop Group Dnipro Amid Increasing Hostilities in Southern Front

In a recent development, General-Colonel Mikhail Teplinsky has been appointed as the commander of the troop group “Dnipro” in place of General-Colonel Oleg Makarevich. This decision comes as the enemy has escalated its military activities in the southern front, particularly in the Kherson region, attempting to establish strongholds on the Dnipro River and make advances towards Crimea. The clashes in this area have intensified, signaling the gravity of the situation, according to the information channel “Voenny Kory Russkoi Vesny” on Telegram.

At 54 years old, Teplinsky brings extensive military experience to his new role. He has previously served in the first and second Chechen wars. In June 2022, he was appointed as the commander of the Airborne Troops. However, in December 2022, he was included in the sanction lists of the United States, followed by the European Union in February 2023.

Prior to Teplinsky’s appointment, the “Dnipro” military group successfully foiled an attempted landing by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Bolshoi Potemkin.

Earlier, Viktor Afzalov replaced Surovikin as the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
