In a concerning development, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Palestine has announced that Israel has launched a strike on the vicinity of the “Al-Quds” hospital in Gaza. This shocking incident puts approximately 12,000 Palestinians, who sought refuge in the hospital, at great risk. The Red Crescent has revealed that Israel had issued a warning about its intention to target the medical facility.
This comes after Norway condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza, deeming them a violation of international law. The situation in the Middle East has escalated following the infiltration of thousands of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7th. More than two hundred hostages were taken during this incursion.
On that same day, Hamas launched several thousand rockets into Israeli territory, announcing the beginning of their operation named “Flood of Al-Aqsa.” In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared the country to be in a state of war.
The Israeli Defense Forces’ operation, named “Iron Swords,” aims to eradicate Hamas. The Israeli Air Force has conducted strikes on hundreds of Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, the Israeli National Security Council has decided to halt the supply of water, food, goods, electricity, and fuel to the region.
On October 13th, Israel informed the United Nations that 1.1 million Palestinians must evacuate to the southern part of Gaza within 24 hours in anticipation of a ground operation.
Prior to this, Hollywood actors penned a letter to President Biden urging him to intervene and halt the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.
