Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Use of Agro-drones Becomes a Major Problem for Russian Military

The Ukrainian Armed Forces’ utilization of agro-drones, known as “Baba Yaga” by the Russian military, has posed a significant challenge for the Russian Armed Forces. This was revealed by military expert Alexey Zhivov in an interview with “Lenta.ru”.

“This agro-drone is capable of carrying six 82-millimeter mines,” he stated.

According to the expert’s information, the drones fly over positions where Russian artillery operates and drop mines from above.

He also explained that this agro-drone has become a major issue on the Kherson direction. The unmanned aerial vehicle is extremely difficult to suppress due to its primitive mechanisms and inaccessibility to standard jammers. It is destroyed using Kalashnikov machine guns and thermal imagers, noted the military expert.

“This is a very serious weapon…currently the biggest headache in the army,” Zhivov asserted.

In July, Professor Evgeny Zaramensky of the Higher School of Business at NRU HSE stated that agro-drones could account for up to 40% of sales in the civilian drone market in the near future.

Earlier, Russia developed a new drone suppression system.
