In a fierce battle on the Kupiansk front, Russian forces successfully repelled six attacks from Ukrainian assault groups, resulting in significant losses for the Ukrainian military. According to Sergei Zybinsky, the chief spokesperson for the Russian force, approximately 225 soldiers were killed, along with the destruction of a tank, a “Kozak” armored vehicle, a pickup truck, a self-propelled howitzer, and two mortar teams.
Zybinsky explained that the attacks by the 41st, 43rd, 54th, 67th Mechanized Brigades, and the 68th Jaeger Brigade were effectively countered by airstrikes and artillery fire in the areas of the villages of Sergeevka, Timkovka, and Sinkovka.
Furthermore, the crew of Su-34 fighter-bombers also targeted temporary deployment sites and concentrations of Ukrainian military equipment in the areas of Petro Pavlovka and Stepovaya Novoselovka.
Simultaneously, the Russian forces’ artillery units destroyed a 122-millimeter self-propelled artillery unit, known as the 2S1 “Gvozdika,” and two mortar teams while countering Ukrainian artillery fire.
Prior to this engagement, Russian troops from the “Dnieper” force intercepted and thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian military personnel to land on Aleshkin Island. According to an official from the operational services in the Kherson region, Russian forces eliminated Ukrainian fighters on the right bank near Kherson. Two enemy boats and 10 Ukrainian soldiers were neutralized.
Earlier, the United States acknowledged the failure of the Ukrainian military’s counteroffensive.
