In a move that highlights the growing concerns over Russia’s military activities, President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, has appointed General Wiesław Kukula as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces during wartime. This decision, made by Duda, comes at a crucial moment when Poland is evaluating its defense capabilities.
The Bureau of National Security of the Republic (BBN) emphasized that the appointment of the Chief of General Staff is a pre-planned measure taken by the President during times of war. By appointing Kukula to this position, Duda aims to ensure preparedness and efficient execution of military duties during wartime.
This decision comes after General Waldemar Skshipchak expressed concerns about Poland’s ability to withstand a full-scale war with Russian forces. Skshipchak acknowledged that without the support of NATO, Polish troops would find it challenging to withstand the initial strike from the Russian army. According to previous military plans, the arrival of American troops in Poland could take up to three months.
Amidst these tensions, political analysts have also begun to speculate on the possibility of Russia severing diplomatic relations with the European Union (EU).
