Vermont State Police made a grim discovery on Wednesday, finding two bodies in a wooded area off a rural road in Eden. The investigation into the disappearance of two 21-year-old Massachusetts men took a dark turn as authorities treat the case as a homicide. The identities of the victims and the cause and manner of their deaths are yet to be determined, as the medical examiner is still processing the bodies.
The missing individuals, Jahim Solomon of Pittsfield and Eric White of Chicopee, vanished under suspicious circumstances while traveling through several communities. They were reported missing on October 15 after losing contact with their families for several days. Prior to their disappearance, they had been in Burlington, Lowell, Morrisville, and Stowe.
During a press conference, Major Dan Trudeau, commander of the Vermont State Police’s criminal division, refrained from making any assumptions about the identities of the bodies. However, he confirmed that this was an isolated incident related to the investigation. The bodies were found less than a mile apart.
Trudeau also revealed that there are multiple suspects and persons of interest in the case. The investigation has proven to be complex, with difficulties in obtaining accurate accounts from individuals in the northern Vermont area. Some individuals sought for questioning have yet to be located, possibly due to fleeing or evading authorities.
As the Vermont State Police continue their investigation, the identities of the victims are expected to be confirmed in the coming days. This tragic event serves as a reminder of the dangers that can lurk in seemingly peaceful and remote areas.
