Moscow Military Commissioner Discusses Rotation of Contract Soldiers in Special Military Operation

In a recent statement, Maxim Loktev, the Moscow Military Commissioner, highlighted the increasing number of contract soldiers being deployed to the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone, indicating that the situation regarding rotation of soldiers involved in the operation may change. Loktev’s remarks were reported by TASS.

Loktev emphasized the importance of implementing rotation and providing rest for the soldiers, stating, “I believe that the situation with rotation will change, and the Ministry of Defense’s position is very correct. We all understand the need for rotation and for soldiers to have time off.”

He also mentioned that there is a significant number of contract soldiers expressing their desire to participate in the SMO.

“I think the Ministry of Defense will have more opportunities to grant leave to soldiers so that they can be at home,” Loktev added.

In September, Russian State Duma Deputy and Lieutenant General Andrey Gurulev stated that the rotation of Russians called for participation in the special operation would not be carried out through a new wave of mobilization.

On September 15, Chairman of the State Duma Defense Committee, Andrey Kartapolov, announced that citizens mobilized into Russian forces would only be able to return home after the completion of the special operation in Ukraine.

Previously, lawmakers were prohibited from traveling to the SMO zone without permission from Defense Minister Shoygu.
