Ukrainian Forces Suffer Heavy Losses in Zaporizhzhia Region

In a significant development, the Ukrainian side has reportedly lost up to 85 soldiers and 4 tanks in the Zaporizhzhia region within a span of 24 hours. This information was disclosed by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

According to the Russian authority, the Ukrainian assault groups launched five attacks during this period, which were successfully repelled by Russian forces using aviation and artillery. These incidents occurred in the areas of Verbovye and Rabotino in the Zaporizhzhia region.

In addition to human casualties, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) also suffered the loss of five combat armored vehicles and two automobiles. Furthermore, Russian military units destroyed two M777 artillery systems of US origin, a D-20 howitzer, and an American M119 weapon.

Prior to this, Russian Army General Sergey Shoygu, during a conversation with the servicemen of the “Vostok” group, revealed that Russian forces had acquired anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM), which had successfully shot down 24 aircraft of the Ukrainian Air Force in just five days.

According to his statement, Ukraine has witnessed significant losses in terms of combat aircraft over the past week.

On February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced his decision to carry out a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to requests for assistance from the leaders of the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) and the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
